Interest Groups

A group of NoVA Kappa Alumnae members who share common interests and meet monthly/bimonthly for fun events.  New members are always welcome!  In order to be a member of an interest group, you must be a current member of the Association, so be sure to register with the Association first so you can hear about upcoming events for the interest groups!  We have several groups that are looking for a new chair.  Don't see the interest group you were looking for below? You can start a new one!

Check out our Upcoming Events page for upcoming interest group events and meetings.

For more information on the interest groups, please contact the interest group chair by clicking on the group name.

Alexandria Kappas: This group meets in the Alexandria area and does a variety of different actives for sisters of all ages. While all meetings are in Alexandria, you don't have to live in Alexandria to join us though! They meet monthly with the time and date changing each month.

Daytime Book Club: The Day Book Group usually selects books 2-3 months in advance to give sisters plenty of time to read. All titles are suggested by the members. After our discussion we generally have a lite lunch. We welcome all book lovers! We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month (except December, and the summer months) at 10:30am at someone’s house.

Kappa Daytimers: Free during the day or just need a day off to spend with Kappa sisters?  Join this group of ladies for monthly lunches, excursions, and conversation.

KICKS: We are a group of Kappa moms who meet on the third Tuesday of each month to enjoy an evening out with friends. While many of us have children who have left the nest, we still enjoy getting together at each other's homes for dessert and conversation. We are always happy to welcome new members, whether the KICKS acronym (loosely translated "Kappas with Infants, Children, Kollege Kids") applies or not.

Needlework Group: The Needlework group meets once a month on the third Wednesday in a member's home. Meetings take place from 10am to 2pm. We work on our own projects or on a group fundraising project. Currently we are working on an owl lap sized quilt that is a lot of fun! We are looking for new members. Previous experience is not required. We are happy to teach.

Out and About: This group visits area sites as well as attends events and shows. We provide the opportunity not only to become better acquainted with your Kappa sisters, but to enjoy what's in our own backyard- the nation's capital! As a part of the Out and About, you will also have the opportunity to suggest trips to the Out and About interest group chair!

Reston Kappas: Do you live outside the Beltway and are looking to get involved with Kappa? Then check out the new Reston Kappas group! This group meets once a month and does a variety of activities from happy hours, to brunch, to going to the movies. You don’t have to live in Reston to join us! Kappas of all ages from all areas are welcome to join.

Kappa Korks:  Does sitting in a vineyard, drinking local wine, and snacking on small foods on a Saturday afternoon sound like fun to you? If you replied yes, this is the group for you! Join us for all the the events, or just a couple. Significant others are welcome to attend!

Night Owls: Looking for a good Happy Hour? Have a restaurant you’ve always wanted to try? What better way to end your busy work-day or work-week then hanging out with some Kappas! This group has monthly happy hours or dinners throughout the area. They meet after work with location varying depending on the bar/restaurant chosen that month.

Kappa Moms & Tots: A NEW group for Kappas with young kids; we’ll meet monthly for play dates, kid-friendly adventures and family outings. Time and date of the meeting will change each month, and suggestions for group activities are welcome!
